why I started mendi
In 2024 and early 2025, two of my closest friends were diagnosed with breast cancer. I was coming up to ten years clear of my own, so I knew a little of what they were facing.
I went looking for something to give them. Something gentle, something that worked, and something they'd actually want sitting on their bedside cabinet or tucked into a handbag. Most of what I found looked like it belonged in a hospital. So I bought them flowers. That stayed with me.
After my own surgery in 2025, I came across hypochlorous acid. It didn't sting, there was nothing to rinse off, and it was one simple step. The more I learned, the more I realised how much else it was good for. I thought of my friends straight away. This was the thing I'd wanted to find for them.
So I started making it. A collection I'd be happy to use myself and happy to hand to the people I love.
